2008-07-07 Registration for Fall 2008 is now OPEN
Deadline for registration is August 9, 2008.Mailed registrations must be postmarked by August 9, 2008. To insure your child is placed on a team please send in your form as soon as possible. Sign up forms may be mailed, brought to the Sportsplex On July 12th and 19th from 10A.M. to Noon, or dropped off @ Players Advantage in the North Laurel Shopping Center.

2008-05-30 LJCSA Annual General Meeting
LJCSA Members,
LJCSA will be holding it’s Annual General Meeting on Monday, June 16th, 2008 at the Cameron Center in Laurel.
The meeting will be held at 6:00 PM.
At this meeting the membership will be electing new board members for the following positions.
Vice President
Treasurer
If you know anyone interested in running for one of these board positions, they can be nominated as early as Monday, June 2nd. Nominations will be taken via e-mail before the meeting, and from the floor during the meeting on June 16th.
The purpose of this meeting is to elect officials, report on the state of LJCSA, and to amend the Bylaws.
If anyone would like to propose an amendment to the bylaws, although this is not a requirement, please do so first via e-mail so we can get a copy of the proposal to the membership before the meeting. Proposals to amend the bylaws will also be taken from the floor during the meeting.
2008-05-15 THURSDAY 5-15 FiELDS CLOSED
The city has closed the fields today Thursday May 15th.
They are very wet and we don't want them to get damaged.
2008-04-29 Central District Qualifier Tournament
LJCSA will be hosting the Central Distric Qualifier Tournament for State Games of Mississippi this year at the Sportsplex.
The dates will be June 7th and 8th, 2008.
More information will be available soon.
2008-03-28 Coaching Clinic - Monday April 7th
Attention all LJCSA coaches.
We will be holding a coaching clinic on Monday April the 7th Starting at 6P.M. at the Sportsplex Soccer fields. Mike Lyles will be the instructor.
This course will get you Level 3 certified to coach youth soccer. Level 3 certification is mandatory for any coaches that wish to coach in Mississippi Soccer Association sponsored tournaments. So, all coaches that will be attending the District Tournament with their teams are REQUIRED by MISSISSIPPI SOCCER ASSOC. to be certified. Once you complete this course, it never expires. Next year and beyond you will already have a Level 3 License, and will not need to repeat the course.
Any coaches that plans on continuing to coach Youth Soccer are encouraged to attend, as this course will help you learn to run effective practices, teach players skills, group tactics, etc.
Instructions:
There are 2 parts to this course. There is an online portion that must be completed first. ( it takes about 20 to 30 minutes ). This portion is done here:

It will make you pay $25 via Credit Card to register for the class, and will ask what District we are in.
You want to make sure and select “Level I,II,III $25” coaching course.
We are in “Central District”.
Make your payment and proceed with the online course.
If it asks you to select a field session, select the one at the Laurel Sportsplex with instructor, Mike Lyles.
At the end of the course, it should give you a receipt. Be sure and print this out and bring it with you to the field session on April 7th.
You will need to turn it in to Mike at the field session. Any LJCSA coaches who are getting Level 3 License for the first time will be mailed a reimbursement check for the $25 from LJCSA after completing the field session.
Please wear proper attire and bring a water bottle to this field session. It does involve you participating in soccer drills and activities.

The National weather service has issued a Severe Weather Advisory for Jones county this evening. They will re-open TUESDAY.

2008-02-19 Concession Stand Schedules
The Concession Stand schedule is posted for the remainder of the spring season. Please check it at our website, www.ljcsa.com .
When it is your teams turn to work, please have about 3 parent volunteers there to cover the concession stand duties.
2008-02-13 UNIFORMS READY NOW
Team Uniforms are ready for pick up.
Coaches, please send a designated person to pick up your teams uniforms. They will not be able to pick up individual player uniforms... They will have to sign for the whole teams uniforms. They can be picked up until 5 pm today, tomorrow and Friday at Players Advantage in the North Laurel Shopping Center. Whatever is left, we will try and bring to the field on Saturday.
2008-02-12 Game Schedule Changes
There have been some schedule changes to correct errors on 2/12/08. Most notably in U8 girls and U12 Girls although no matter what age group you are in, please check. Please look at the latest copy and check back regularly.
2008-02-07 Referees Meeting MONDAY Febuary 11th
LJCSA referees who wish to work this spring will meet at the pavillion by the tennis courts at 6 PM Monday, February 11. Please tell your fellow referees about this meeting in case they don't get this e-mail. Failure to attend the meeting or contact me before Monday will indicate that you do not want to work games. The season starts Saturday, February 16.

Teams may begin practice now. Coaches recieved their rosters Friday night 2/1/08. players should recieve a call from their coach this week to begin practice.
2008-01-31 LJCSA Coaches Meeting POSTPONED
LJCSA Coaches Meeting POSTPONED until Friday 2/1/08 @ 5:45PM
LJCSA's Head Coach, Wayne Hollomon has requested that we postpone the coaches meeting until tomorrow ( Friday 2/1 ) at 5:45PM. The decision was made due to the Severe weather and possible Tornado warning that will be in effect this evening.
Your Rosters will be available for pick up tomorrow ( Friday ) evening after a brief coaches meeting.
REMINDER: If you are a new coach or did not fill out a KIDSAFE form in the fall season, you must do so now. Coaches that have not completed the Kidsafe procedure will NOT be able to pick up their rosters.
2008-01-30 Coaches Meeting 1/31/2008 @ 6:00PM
There will be a coaches meeting @ 6P.M. on Thursday 1/31/08 at the Pavillion across from the tennis courts at the Sportsplex.
ALL coaches should attend to pick up their rosters.
Coaches that have completed their Kidsafe form last season will be able to pick up their rosters at this time. Any new coaches or coaches that have not filled out their KidSafe form online will not be able to pick up their roster until they have completed this process. If you have not done so yet, please do so now. Mississippi Soccer Association does not allow us to give you your roster until the Kidsafe process is complete. If you completed the process in the Fall of 2007, you do not need to do it again.
The form can be found on our website at www.ljcsa.com and click on Kidsafe Online Form.
Game schedules should be complete by Friday of this week. They will be posted on the website as well, as soon as they are available.
2008-01-23 REGISTRATION will close today
The last day for Spring registration is today ( Wednesday 1/23/08 @ 5PM) at Players Advantage. New Players will be added to teams as slots are available.

2008-01-04 Registration Jan. 5th and 12th at the Sportsplex
Registration for the Spring 2008 season will be taking place in person at the Sportsplex on Saturday 1/5 and 1/12 from 10A.M. until 12 Noon at the soccer fields.

Spring 2008 registration is now OPEN. For returning players from Fall 2007, get your registration information in before DEC 1st, and recieve a $10 discount. You can get a registration form at the forms section of this website.

Due to the high probability of more rain this afternoon and evening, and the water still sitting on the fields from last night, the decision was made to close the fields this evening (Tuesday 10/23).

Due to the high probability of severe weather this afternoon and evening, the decision was made to close the fields this evening (Thursday 9/13). They will re-open tomorrow (Friday 9/14).
2007-09-12 Concession Stand Schedules
Parents and Players, Please check the concession Stand schedule. We will need a some parents from the team listed on the schedule to work the concession stand during their time slot. The concession stand is a very important part of helping to fund LJCSA, and is an important service to the hundreds of parents and players that attend our fields on a daily basis. We have done our best to make sure that each team only has to work the concession stand 1 time per season.
2007-09-05 UNIFORMS READY NOW
Coaches, Your team uniforms are ready to be picked up now at Players Advantage in the North Laurel Shopping Center. Please arrange to have them picked up. They will only be distributed as a team. Please arrange to have a representative of your team go by and pick up the entire teams uniforms. Those not picked up Thursday by 5P.M. from Players Advantage will be brought to the Sportsplex. They will be available Thursday at the Sportsplex After 6P.M.
2007-08-31 U12 Girls Schedule Update
The U12 Girls Schedule was pdated on Friday 8/31 @ 9:30AM due to a conflict of a coach that has 2 LJCSA teams. We made a few changes to accomidate this coach's schedules.
2007-08-28 MANATORY REFEREE MEETING Tuesday 9/4 @ 6P.M.
All referees who plan to officiate games at LJCSA this fall should attend a brief meeting on Tuesday, September 4 at 6 PM at the pavillion by the Sportsplex tennis courts.
Subjects to be discussed include a new scheduling system and an incentive program.
Newly certified referees should be prepared to stay after the meeting for additional on-field training. Those officials will be dismissed no later than 8 PM.

Any Parents that have not yet been contacted by a coach should meet at the Concession Stand Saturday 8/25/07 @ 10:30A.M. Any Coaches or Parents who have any questions about anything should also attend. The meeting will be fairly brief and informational.

Game schedules for Fall 2007 should be ready approximately Wednesday August 29th. They wil be posted when they are done.

2007-08-22 COACHING CLINIC - SUNDAY 8/26 at 2P.M.
LJCSA will hold a beginner coaching clinic for all 1st and 2nd year coaches. The primary focus of this clinic is to train new coaches to run practices with their teams, and answer any questions they may have. The primary focus will be U6 thru U10 age groups. ALL LJCSA coaches are welcome to attend.
It will be held at the sportsplex on SUNDAY 8/26/07 @ 2P.M.

Rosters are ready for coaches to pick up. Coaches can pick them up at the Soccerfields Monday and Tuesday 8/20 and 8/21 between 6:00PM and 6:30PM.

The Player Draft for the Fall 2007 season is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, August 14th at the Pavillion accross from the Tennis Courts at the SportsPlex @ 6P.M. It is possible that this meeting will be rescheduled for Thursday, August 16th in some age groups (This depends on whether or not all registration forms have been entered).
ALL Coaches should attend. Player Selections will will take place at this meeting.

2007-07-31 Referee Certification for Fall 2007
Classes and recertification courses are set for Laurel-area residents who wish to officiate Laurel-Jones County Soccer Association games this fall.
For current referees Grade 8 and higher, the state-mandated recertification class will take place at 6 PM on Friday, August 10.
LJCSA is actively seeking new referees. Training for beginner referees will begin at 9 AM on Saturday, August 11. Minimum age for this one-day course 12 years old. Those passing this course will earn a Grade 9 certification are eligible to act as an Assistant Referee in recreational soccer games up to U-14.
For those who pass the August 11 course, there will be an additional course available beginning at 9 AM on Saturday, August 18. Passage of this course will certify participants as Grade 8 referees. Center Referees on all games U-10 and above are required to have Grade 8 certification. All eligible referees who have passed a Grade 9 test are encouraged to take the "bridge course" and become Grade 8 certified.
All coaches and parents who are interested in furthering their knowledge of the game are invited to audit the August 11 course for a nominal fee.
The August 10 and 11 courses will be taught at Westminster Prebysterian Church on Highway 15 North in Laurel. Directions to Westminster from Interstate 59: Take exit 95-B. Head North on Highway 15. Pass through three lights. The church is at 1200 Highway 15 North -- on the left after passing Western Sizzlin restaurant.
The August 18 course will be taught at First United Methodist Church at 420 North Fifth Avenue in downtown Laurel. Directions to First United Methodist Church from Interstate 59: Take exit 95-C (Beacon Street). Go left at the stop sign. Travel in the right lane through three lights. The fourth light is at the intersection of Beacon Street and Sawmill Road. Turn right onto Sawmill Road. The street makes a sweeping downhill veer to the right. As you make that turn, you will pass the rear parking lot of the church. Enter the building throught the back door.
